Comments about Ryobi Ryobi Factory-Reconditioned One+ 18V Cordless 10" Chain Saw (Tool Only):

Great tool. Have used it 5 times in 2 weeks. It is easier to use and maintain than a gas powered saw. Pop the battery in and it goes. Great for cutting branches. Safer because there isn't a motor running all the time. Doesn't replace the gas powered saw, but a great tool. Good for jobs with lots of stops and starts.

Comments about Ryobi Ryobi Factory-Reconditioned One+ 18V Cordless 10" Chain Saw (Tool Only):

This reconditioned saw was received in like new condition. A short trial indicates it should work well for small jobs. I don't think it would be very useful if using standard Ni-Cad battery. The Lithium Ion battery is best; too bad they are so expensive.

By HunterVerified Purchaser from Baytown, TX on 5/18/2009

Comments about Ryobi Ryobi Factory-Reconditioned One+ 18V Cordless 10" Chain Saw (Tool Only):

Trimming trees and brush. Cut one 6 inch log and took a lot of time. Power seems sufficient with Lithium battery but low chain speed makes for long cuts. Battery held up good. Don't think a regular battery would work well. Very portable and easy to use. I cannot find any information on buying replacement parts (Chain)

By WaterloverVerified Purchaser from Kansas on 5/5/2009

Good for pasture work, Up to 5" trees
Bottom Line:

Comments about Ryobi Ryobi Factory-Reconditioned One+ 18V Cordless 10" Chain Saw (Tool Only):

I really like this product as I am a woman. Handles well and is easy to handle out in my pastures with maintenance around my ponds. It will cut about 6 small trees then you will need to change the battery. It is not like a big gas powered unit, so don't handle it like that. Don't push the blade into the tree let it cut it itself, and you will be fine. This unit will be great when I am on my boat to get small pieces for a fire by the water.

Comments about Ryobi Ryobi Factory-Reconditioned One+ 18V Cordless 10" Chain Saw (Tool Only):

the saw does what i bought it for, i was very skeptical but it turns out, it works, i topped a tree 5" in diameter, & trim 2-4 inchers easily, i have a gas Stihl for my big stuff, & loppers won't cut 2-3 inches, so this is perfect for in between stuff, almost maintanence free unlike a gas saw, may want to get yourself another battery, &/or 1 hour charger

Comments about Ryobi Ryobi Factory-Reconditioned One+ 18V Cordless 10" Chain Saw (Tool Only):

For light use this a great product. Did not know what to expect having use other electric chain saws, but not batt powered. I was really surprised it was as good if not better and no cord to trip over. Sooner or later I will probably add a Li-ion Battery (I also have a 18v recipical saw) but its got to be on sale or Recon.[$] for a Batt is just nuts!

useless
By blackoarsVerified Purchaser from southern california on 3/26/2009
Pros:
Very pretty
Cons:
But I'm not hoping big, But no chips come off log, Makes whizzing sounds, New chain might help
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Ryobi Ryobi Factory-Reconditioned One+ 18V Cordless 10" Chain Saw (Tool Only):

This thing makes whizzing sounds and the chain goes around but very few chips come off the log. First I will try giving the nearly toothless chain a good sharpening and adjustment, if that doesn't make it any better I'll buy a new chain with more teeth and try that. For now, useless as mammary glands on a boar. If you have to cut away from your electrical service, get a gasoline machine and put up with the noise and fury.

Comments about Ryobi Ryobi Factory-Reconditioned One+ 18V Cordless 10" Chain Saw (Tool Only):

Before we had this chainsaw, we cut small trees into large lengths with a hand saw (noisy gas chainsaws bothered nearby residences) to load into our truck. Once home, we cut the trees into logs with the gas chainsaw. Needless to say, this little chainsaw makes the first job MUCH easier. The battery life is short, but we have other Ryobi products, so we take two extra batteries with us and cut until we run out of power.
With the one year warranty, this reconditioned saw is a good choice.

Comments about Ryobi Ryobi Factory-Reconditioned One+ 18V Cordless 10" Chain Saw (Tool Only):

Needed a chainsaw to take care of downed limbs from an ice storm. Several of the limbs were to big to move around, probably 8inch diameter at their base. Hate messing with cords for electric tools but like the convienance. Have had a gas chainsaw in the past that was great but as little as I use it, gas and oil and tuneups was a pain.
This saw has the convienence of electric without the annoying cords. As to performance. I was a little skeptical but pleasently surprised. It took care of all of my limbs, though certainly took quite a bit more time then a gas saw. The bigger limbs no doubt used a lot of the battery's juice. It is lightwieght so can be used with one hand if the situation called for it. Also, compared to an aggressive gas saw, wood chips don't fly so hardly a need for safety glasses(though still makes sense to wear them). With my gas saw I would always wear chaps, face shield and steel toes, certainly no need for all the garb with this tool. Only con is the battery life. Probably got around 30 minutes out of each battery so definetly want to have a 2nd or 3rd on hand. For limb clean up, an hour at a time is just about good enough though, as it forces one to not overdo it. Very pleased with the product.

I didnt expect much from a cordless electric chainsaw but this saw works pretty well. I've been cutting up some real old and real hard walnut and with 2 batteries I get through a lot. Don't expect too much, but this little thing pulls its weight.

Best Uses:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Ryobi Ryobi Factory-Reconditioned One+ 18V Cordless 10" Chain Saw (Tool Only):

The chain runs much slower than a gas powered saw, so cutting is not as efficient or smooth. This saw is more convenient than a gas powereed saw and is suitable only for cutting of small branches for short time periods. Not for serious cutting.
