I use the tool for craft products. Like the ability to change the belt from horizontal to vertical. Useful at times. When tool arrived the set screw for the table was cross threaded, and I had to use an extracting tool to get it out. I got it out, but haven't been able to get a new screw in.

Use it to rough out shapes after band sawing and as a planer to put a uniform flat side on a small piece. Have used it for a couple of weeks and it has performed well. No excessive noise or vibration problems IMO.

Nice sander overall. Would buy again. Drive belt was a bit frayed on one end, but doesn't affect performance (see similar comments from others). Motor and belt sprocket gears were not that tight; I used LockTite to keep them in place. Drive belt cover must be removed for any angle other than 0 or 90 degrees. Cover touches gears sometimes. We use the belt sanding feature more than the disk sander. Does a nice job if your careful and use a light pressure. Aluminum table in front of disk sander is light weight, could have been more substantial. Entire tool seems to work and adjusts as advertised. Comparing cost and quality, it's a good value.

This product arrived a little beat up. There were obvious use marks, not the "almost new" advertised on the site.When I first started it, it ran pretty smoothly, but the disc sander was not completely flat, making it unusable. I got it for the belt, however, so I put that to use.After about 2 hours of use it started to vibrate. Not long thereafter it started vibrating a lot, and then the motor lost power. Now the motor just makes a high pitched whine when you put ANY pressure on the sanding belt, making it useless.Further inspection shows that the drive belt was work, like it had seen years of use. When the machine runs (which it will only do with NO load) it shakes the whole bench.So, I basically paid about [$] to use a low-quality tool. This is a VERY bad bargain.

I have only used this on softer materials but it works great. My only complaint is a crack in a plastic piece but it doesn't affect the performance of the machine. For the price this is an excellent value for a good sander.

Bought this sander for use in building cars in a Cub Scout Pine Wood Derby. We had it out of the box and running in about 10 minutes and used for 3 straight hours the first night. It's been dependable and easy to use... [$]

I like this little sander, it comes in handy, I wish ryobi made a 6" belt and 9" disc model though, this sander is on the small side. no complaints ,it works well , plenty of power.

A very solid piece of gear for the money. A few marks on the paint and a slightly cracked cover for the toothed drive belt takes nothing away from the utility of this excellent tool. Personally, I like perfection, but I like having almost [$] in my pocket more. The band saw is next! :-)

I have owned one of these for over a year now. It works well, and is easy to use. Sanding belts and disks are standard size, and available from a number of sources. The belt tracks well on the two rollers, and it will sand quickly on small wood parts. I have encountered some issues with this unit. The support table for the Disk sander is not that stable, only one point of support. The dust extraction method doesn't work very well. Also, the toothed drive belt from the motor to the main drive roller is too small, and will break or strip it's teeth if you apply a heavy load to the belt during sanding. I keep spare belts handy. They are a standard Gates size. I have stripped the teeth off belts during belt sanding. Other than these short comings, the sander has worked well. For the money it's fairly good value. The bench sander I use the most, is a RIDGID EB44241, spindle / Belt sander, more costly, but more functional. Both are made by the same parent company. I would recommend the RIGID model over the Ryobi for must uses.

No problems out of the box other than the miter attachment. It is almost impossible to square it
to the sanding disc. If you can stand that, the
sander is well worth the money.
